Ms. Nontombana’s experience in the public sector spans more than 20 years. She is currently employed as a Councillor (full-time executive board member) at the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA). In this role, she leads and provides strategic oversight on a number of regulatory committees on behalf of Council. Some of these committees include the IMT Roadmap, License Renewals Inquiry, Astronomy Geographic Advantage and Dynamic Spectrum Access.
Prior to this role, she was a Manager at the Competition Commission of South Africa, leading investigations on contraventions of the Competition Act and M&A transactions, including presentation of cases to the Competition Tribunal of South Africa for adjudication. She was nominated and subsequently named one of 40 Women in their 40s in Competition Law enforcement in 2018 in Europe, Americas and Africa.
She holds a Masters degree in Economic Policy from the University of Stellenbosch and an MBL from UNISA. She is also a member of the Institute of Directors South Africa (IoDSA).
